Development Support - 18 Month Contract - AAA Gaming Studio (Hybrid)
On behalf of our AAA Game Development client located in Vancouver, BC, Brainhunter Systems Ltd. is looking to hire a Development Support professional (Story/Campaign Team) to join them for an 18-month contract opportunity.
Please note: This is a hybrid position with a firm 3 days per week working out of the downtown Vancouver studio space.
The Development Support team member works with development teams to provide early testing, documentation creation (eg. test cases and test briefs, QA Confluence pages), and handles basically anything that could potentially keep a Core QA team member out of the game. They provide feedback to the QA Leads on the health of their area/feature(s) and to the development team on the testing of their area/feature(s). They are the primary contact for the QA team, fielding design questions from Core QA and are the initial development teams first point of contact for asks on the status of testing, or to adjust the testing Core QA needs to complete.

Requirements:
- • Multiple development cycle experience with a focus on Cinematics, In game moments, Environment testing, or Content testing .
• Strong understanding of:
- • Cinematic workflows/development phases
• Cinematic Triggers & Transitions
- • Ensuring cinematics trigger at the correct time (e.g., after completing an objective).
• Verifying seamless transitions between gameplay and cutscenes.
• Checking if cinematics properly skip or replay when prompted.
•
• Dialogue & Audio Testing
- • Ensuring lip-sync matches voiceovers for all supported languages.
• Checking dialogue timing and audio mixing (e.g., no overlapping or missing lines).
• Verifying sound effects and music cues trigger correctly.
• Testing audio balancing (voice, music, and SFX levels).
• Camera & Animation Testing
- • Validating cinematic camera angles, movements, and framing.
• Checking for camera clipping (objects or characters blocking the view).
• Ensuring smooth animation transitions between scenes and gameplay.
• Testing facial animations for emotional accuracy and realism.
• Environmental & Visual Testing
- • Ensuring lighting and particle effects match the intended mood.
• Verifying textures, character models, and environmental assets load correctly.
• Identifying visual glitches (e.g., flickering, T-posing, missing assets).
• Performance & Platform-Specific Testing
- • Ensuring cinematics run smoothly across different hardware
• Checking frame rate consistency (avoiding stuttering or drops).
• Verifying 4K, HDR, and aspect ratio scaling for different display settings.
• Co-op & Multiplayer
- • Testing synchronized cutscenes in co-op mode (ensuring all players see the same cinematic).
• Verifying player-controlled characters appear correctly in cutscenes
• Ensuring no desync issues between host and client players.
• Experience writing testing instructions or briefs.
• Experience estimating testing efforts.
• Strong documentation and organization skills.
• Strong communication skills, comfortable interfacing with QA and Production teams.
- • Unreal Engine experience
• Jira, Confluence and SharePoint experience
• Strong adaptable teaching skills (teaching to lots of different types of learners)
