Job Description
PwC Canada is looking for a Google Cloud Engineer to join their Cloud & Data consulting practice. In this role, you will be working directly with our customers as part of a technical delivery team. This is a deeply technical role that requires a wide breadth of experience and expertise, where learning new technologies and skills is the norm, not the exception. Candidates should have recent experience working with one or more public clouds in a DevOps, Platform Engineering, or SRE role. Given the dynamic nature of the role, and customer projects, it is vital that candidates are strong problem solvers who can take ownership of an outcome and see it through to completion.
Meaningful work you'll be part of
As a Google Cloud Engineer, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Customer Success
• Collaborate with cross functional team members to develop and propose to potential customers technical cloud-based solutions including proposals and statements of work
• Assist to develop reference architectures and best practice approaches to optimize clients' cloud adoption, application performance, security, and cost models
• Analyze business and technical requirements and translate to designs and approach
• Participate in meetings and discussions with internal and external customers
• Identify and prioritize use cases for implementation
• Identify technical requirements for the identified use cases and build an implementation plan
Coaching and Mentorship
• Collaborate with team members and foster an environment where technical professionals can develop their skills and grow their careers, taking on increased responsibility and adding value to the organization
• Provide coaching and mentoring to fellow team members
Implementation, Innovation (building), and Learning
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge on GCP offerings
• Obtain and maintain relevant certifications as needed for the Cloud Engineering Practice
• Collaborate with your team members and contribute as a technical team member while participating in multiple concurrent cloud focused projects, ensuring implementations are well aligned with the overall architecture
• Identification and build of reusable and repeatable cloud-based patterns and artifacts that the practice can bring to market
• Implementation of cloud agnostic use cases leveraging cloud provider a 3rd party tools to deliver business outcomes for customers based on the identified requirements
Experiences and skills you'll use to solve
• Must have hands-on experience with containerization and Kubernetes :
• Containers: Writing Dockerfiles, building and publishing container images
• Kubernetes: Writing Kubernetes manifests and templates (Helm, Kustomize)
• Hands-on experience with the following :
• Creating CI/CD pipelines and implementing advance deployment stages (blue/green, canary)
• Creating infrastructure-as-code resources and modules in Terraform
• Experience in technical writing and creating technical diagrams, and ability to write and debug scripts and glue-code in Bash and Python
• Experience implementing and using monitoring and observability tooling
• Experience implementing and configuring Istio based Service Meshes
• Experience working with Linux based operating systems and related package managers
• Good foundational understanding and/or familiar working with:
• Networking (DNS, L2/4/7, load balancers)
• Agile environnements (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)
• Git based version control and related management practices (gitflow, trunk-based, etc.)
• Multiple public cloud environements (Azure AWS), but mainly GCP
• Best practices relating to security and hardening across a broad domain of technologies.
• Self-learner with a growth mindset, and strong troubleshooting/problem-solving skills
PwC BC Region Pay Range Information
The salary range* for this position is $103,000.00 - $171,800.00 CAD, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual bonus payment. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon your skills, experience, qualifications and geographic location.
*Please note that the salary range for this position is reflected for our British Columbia region. Given our national recruiting approach, we recruit (and may hire) in other regions and therefore the salary range may differ depending on the work location.
