The Opportunity:
In this role, you'll lead quality assurance efforts by reviewing documentation, coordinating testing and inspections, and conducting internal and supplier audits. You'll have the opportunity to oversee a large, first of its kind construction project to ensure safety and quality compliance while mentoring junior quality personnel.
This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution of the Near Surface Disposal (NSDF) Project in Chalk River. The NSDF project represents a 5-year build of the low-level waste repository in Chalk River.
The position requires the successful candidate to be physically present on the project site, and frequently inspect all aspects and areas of the site project, including exposure to ongoing construction, seasonal and various weather conditions.
Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based full time on-site at the project in Chalk River, Ontario.

What you can expect to do here:
- You will review documentation to ensure compliance with specifications, quality programs, and other relevant standards.
- You will coordinate and lead factory and site testing requirements, inspections, and surveillances, and document findings from these activities.
- You will lead internal and supplier audits to assess compliance with quality standards.
- You will develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) documents to meet customer requirements and play a crucial role in ensuring consistent quality practices.
- You will train project personnel on the QMS, ensuring everyone understands quality processes and requirements.
- You will create and update process documents within the project's QMS and use these documents to guide quality-related activities.
- You will investigate quality issues, monitor trends, and document your findings.
- You will analyze data related to quality performance and identify areas where improvements can be made.
- You will implement testing procedures to assess product quality, and report on inspection results to relevant stakeholders.
- You will work closely with project functional lines (such as engineering, production, and logistics) to provide quality planning, feedback, and support.
- You will inspect construction projects before, during, and after completion.
- You will oversee work performed by internal project staff and suppliers.
- Ensure adherence to quality specifications.
- You will liaise and work collaboratively with all project stakeholders.
- As a senior team member, you will mentor and guide junior quality personnel, and share your expertise and help them develop their skills.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Degree or Diploma in Civil or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- More than 8-10 years of relevant experience in quality program management.
- Knowledge of CSA N299.2 and ISO 9001 standards
- Knowledge of ASME Section VIIII, CSA B31, B51, N285 would be an asset
- Effective communication and leadership skills are crucial.
- Experience working in construction, engineering, or related fields. Familiarity with construction processes, materials, and safety standards.
- Previous experience in construction and heavy civil projects preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications.
- Certification related to quality management, such as Certified Quality Manager (CQM) or Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) or successful completion of NIAC, CANIAC training/evaluations would be an asset.
- Experience conducting Root Cause Analysis investigations would be an asset
- Must be eligible for CNL Reliability Stauts security clearance ( individual must have 3 full years of verifiable, concurrent and recent history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia ).
