The Opportunity:
This is an exciting opportunity to work with autonomy on some of Canada's most future-forward engineering projects. You should be familiar with a variety of transportation, municipal, institutional, and commercial building projects. This is an intermediate level role, and fr om a technical perspective, you will be an established technical resource, mentoring junior engineers and EITs in engineering drawings and design production.

What you can expect to do here:
Electrical design of power distribution, fire alarm, grounding, lightning protection, lighting control, UPS, emergency power and generators for land, air, and water transportation projects including but not limited to GO Metrolinx, TTC, YRT, CN, CP, GTAA, etc.
Complete understanding of Electrical Engineering requirements for Building and Site design;
Ability to perform interdisciplinary coordination with Lighting, Mechanical, Structural, Civil, Site Services, Signaling, Architectural, Project Management, and Construction Management disciplines per project requirement;
Review and seal lighting design and control systems for building permit and construction;
Perform individually and as a team member within the electrical discipline;
Some knowledge of project management requirement including reporting, financials, and resourcing to help with project managers, Senior Engineers, and Electrical Manager;
Take ownership of small size projects as a project manager and design engineer throughout the project life cycle
What you'll bring to WSP:
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and registered P.Eng. with PEO;
5 to 7 years' of direct experience with designing electrical systems for buildings, transportation, commercial, and industrial projects including but not limited to: power distribution, circuiting, emergency lighting, grounding, bounding, emergency power, lightning protection, lighting systems, lighting controls and zoning, control sequence of operation, fire protection, fire alarm and life safety systems;
Ability to work independently to deliver comprehensive designs and meet the deadlines;
Extensive understanding of building electrical engineering requirement, knowledge of utility companies, authorities having jurisdiction, applicable codes and standards such as Ontario Building Code (OBC), CSA, ASHRAE, IESNA, IEEE, OESC, CEC, NFPA, etc.
Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with team members and other disciplines;
Detail oriented, organized, hard worker, and team player attitude;
Thorough understanding of project management technical requirement to prepare schedules and resourcing. Master's degree and PMP certificate, are plus;
Thorough familiarity with software used for engineering studies - arc flash, load, fault and coordination studies, lighting, grounding, etc. is an asset.
