The Opportunity:
WSP currently offers an opportunity for a Junior Process Water/Wastewater Designer within the Process Water/Wastewater Group. Our offices are located across Ontario and in Montreal, Quebec. As the successful candidate, you will collaborate with the Process Water/Wastewater Group on local and international industrial water and wastewater treatment projects across various sectors, including food processing, mining, and manufacturing. Additionally, you'll have the chance to participate in renewable energy (waste-to-energy) initiatives and groundwater remediation and treatment projects.
Our Process Water/Wastewater Group is a tight-knit community of industry professionals, with team members spanning a range of experience from 30 years to less than one. We specialize in providing design services tailored to clients facing unique challenges, with project sites spanning the globe. Our expertise covers traditional physical-chemical, aerobic, and anaerobic wastewater treatment, as well as addressing emerging contaminants and practices-such as PFAS treatment-and developing renewable natural gas resources through waste digestion.

What you can expect to do here:
- Designing industrial wastewater treatment systems, including wastewater characterization, bench and pilot-scale treatability evaluations, Mass Balance, PFD, and P&ID development, detailed engineering drawings, specifications, construction supervision, and commissioning.
- Evaluating treatment technologies from both economic and technical perspectives.
- Specifying and tendering major process equipment purchases.
- Assessing specific treatment equipment based on economic and technical criteria.
- Conducting water and waste reduction audits with a focus on source reduction and water recycling.
- Managing permitting and regulatory submissions.
- Engaging in field and laboratory work, including sampling and bench/pilot-scale treatability studies.
- What you'll bring to WSP:
An undergraduate degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering. - Recent graduates with up to four years of experience.
- Eligibility for licensure with Professional Engineers of Ontario (EIT or P. Eng.).
- A valid Ontario Class-G license.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience in industrial sectors such as food processing, mining, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical, metal finishing, petroleum, and general manufacturing.
- Familiarity with stormwater management.
- Knowledge of REVIT & ACAD.
- Proficiency in GPS-X or BioWin.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English.
- An advanced engineering degree (Masters+).
