The Communication Consultants primary responsibility is to manage the multiple facets of communicating technology strategies and deliverables for a technology department who is responsible for the Corporate & Commercial Banking and Credit Risk systems.

To be successful in this role, the candidate needs to be able to:
  • Develop and drive execution of a communications strategy and schedule for the department
  • Build content from multiple input sources and craft clear, concise and engaging written materials
  • Elicit comprehensive and relevant information from a diverse stakeholder group (including technical resources) and translate into easily consumable data for non-technical audiences
  • Investigate and understand the bank's various communication channels to identify opportunities to leverage
  • Develop a working knowledge of the bank's strategies and our departments strategies to enable content which links strategies, achievements, opportunities and benefits
  • Provide communications advice and guidance to the department, on communication principles/programs/approaches, on effective ways to communicate (e.g. message development, vehicle selection, etc.), and communication approaches designed to positively influence or change behaviour
  • Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders
  • Work independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Typical / existing communication deliverables include:
  • Pre and post production release communications
  • Weekly achievements content for newsletters, ad hoc achievements content for other Bank Communications platforms
  • Inputs to Senior Leadership speaking events (Internal and External), sometimes including planning and development of events
  • Presentations on group strategies
  • Inputs to townhalls and leadership messaging


Qualifications:
  • Typically, between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Computer Science or a related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for crafting clear, compelling messaging.
  • Ability to tailor communication for different audiences (e.g., technical teams, end-users, executives, or external stakeholders)
  • Uses a straight-talk and story-telling approach for communications.
  • Gathers feedback and continually evaluates the effectiveness of the communications strategy and output / content
  • Remains alert to new trends, tools and methods of communication, and makes recommendations on their application.
  • Skill in storytelling to highlight the value and impact of technology.

Technical Skills
  • Advance level expertise in all MS Office Products, with high concentration on Outlook, MS Teams, Powerpoint
  • Use of Video technology and info-graphics

Technology Knowledge Skills
  • Understanding of the broad technology concepts (i.e. Application Development and Implementation, Technology migrations and conversions, Cloud Capabilities)
  • Familiarity with technical terminology and the ability to translate it into simple, customer-friendly language.
  • Awareness of industry trends and competitive landscape, (Technology and Financial Institutions).

Organizational Skills
  • Ability to build plans, manage timelines and deliverables, Including deliverables reliant on multiple input sources and reviewers.
  • Ability to understand and coordinate between multiple communications channels.
  • Experience in managing multiple stakeholders and priorities.
Salary :

$74,800.00 - $138,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
