The Opportunity:

WSP is growing and has an opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our Water & Wastewater Facilities Structural Team located in Thornhill, Ontario. As an engineer with us, you will be part of our growing team, using your skills and engineering expertise to design and partner on major infrastructure projects in Canada from coast to coast. As a Structural Engineer, you will be an integral part of our dynamic structural team and dive into the intricate world of engineering analysis and designs on water treatment plants, reservoirs, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, underground liquid retaining tanks, chambers, solid waste management facilities and other type of infrastructure facilities.

What you can expect to do here:

  • You will create structural analysis and design models, engineering calculation spreadsheets, hand calculations to the structural components and the entire structure analysis and designs.
  • You will create markups per the analysis results to the BIM modellers and drafters for project productions by Bluebeam software or manual markups.,
  • You will be involved in construction services, including shop drawing reviews, responding to requests for information (RFIs), change order assessments, and on-site inspections.
  • You will conduct site surveys, gather critical field data and perform condition assessments of the existing structures.
  • You will facilitate seamless collaboration between design and construction teams.
  • You will share your expertise with junior staff, fostering growth and development.
  • You will to be prepared for a dynamic role that may include additional duties as assigned.


What you'll bring to WSP:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent;
  • A minimum 5-10 years of relevant experience ideally in Water and Wastewater facility, solid waste facility structural designs in Ontario or across Canada.
  • Detain a Professional Engineer License in Canada
  • Ability to work in collaboration and within a team working environment
  • Reliablility and accountability to deliver on what was promised to the client
  • Familiarity with relevant codes and standards, including OBC2024, NBCC2020, CSA A23, ACI 350, etc.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design software such as Staad.Pro, S-Frame, and CSI series. Basic knowledge of BIM360 and REVIT is required.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal/written) to work on proposals, technical memoranda, and reports.
  • Can work under pressure and perform interdisciplinary coordination and various stakeholders on a regular basis
  • A Master's Degree in Structural Engineering would be preferred
