The Opportunity:

Join our dynamic team and lead project management efforts to ensure successful delivery on commitments and financial targets for the Constuction Services & Materials Engineering (CSME) Group!

In this position, you will provide operational leadership and direction for the CSME Business Unit and optimize the financial, commercial, and project delivery performance within the market segment. The role supports coordination of efforts across sub-sectors and develops plans, programs, and organizational objectives to enhance margins, workforce utilization, and cash generation. All activities are undertaken in support of the WSP Canada strategic plan.

What you can expect to do here:
  • You will guide and direct project management employees on measures to mitigate project performance issues and risks, ensuring successful delivery on the contractual commitments and financial targets for the project portfolio to meet client expectations and achieve or exceed profitability targets for the CSME Group.
  • You will conduct regular project reviews to ensure budget, schedule, risk, and cost to complete estimates are in order.
  • You will effectively communicate and manage the implementation of the operating plan and its objectives for the market segment, with primary efforts focused on project delivery excellence, financial performance, overhead cost management, cash collection, and adherence to the strategic plan. You will report back to the Environmental Planning Vice-President on current performance and priorities to successfully close month and quarter ends.
  • You will help develop the operating plan and financial forecasts in collaboration with the CSME Vice-President, the E&E ONAC Director - Operations, and the individual directors and managers.
  • You will help identify opportunities to increase revenue for equipment and fleet in Environmental Planning.
  • You will work closely with the finance, quality, legal/risk, and project delivery shared services to advance project management tools such as project status reports, ensuring proper deployment and utilization within the market segment.
  • You will promote collaboration across offices to ensure effective resource sharing, workload/resource balancing, and to bring the best the market segment has to bear to meet the needs of clients.
  • You will monitor business development investments to deliver acceptable returns on the investments, aligned with the regional market segment strategy and its backlog and sales targets.
  • You will visibly champion the WSP programs of safety and ethics & compliance to ensure they are an overriding part of the organizational culture.

What you'll bring to WSP:
  • Post-secondary education in a STEM-related discipline, business, or an equivalent field.
  • Experience in management or project management within environmental planning, engineering, or related sectors that handle large, technical, and complex projects.
  • A strong history of delivering quality financial performance and results.
  • Advanced people and leadership skills to effectively manage relationships, achieve consensus, and drive results.
  • Ability to assess situations proactively and creatively, demonstrating good judgment and informed risk-taking.
  • Highly professional with strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Confidence to influence a high-caliber team, driving the business to higher performance levels and seizing opportunities both internally and in the market.
  • A track record of creating a climate where people want to do their best by working collaboratively, empowering teams to solve problems, and fostering a clear sense of identity with the company.
  • Internal WSP experience is considered a strong asset but not required.
