The Opportunity:
As an Environmental Planning Project Manager, you'll have an opportunity to manage exciting environmental impact assessment and permitting projects in various sectors, such as nuclear, renewable energy, transmission, transportation, infrastructure, mining, and oil and gas, in Ontario and elsewhere in Canada. This role will work closely with technical teams to deliver environmental consulting services for environmental planning and permitting scopes, and may also involve construction and post-construction environmental monitoring. The role will be focused on managing scopes relating to environmental and socio-economic impact assessment, environmental permitting, field investigations, desktop analyses, environmental protection planning, research and many more. This role will work closely with technical managers and ensure the correct delivery of projects within budget and schedule.

What you can expect to do here:
- You will manage environmental impact assessment and permitting projects for all stages, from Project Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring and Control, and Closure
- You will control and monitor the progress of projects with respect to scope, schedule, budget, quality, etc. and implement change as appropriate;
- You will work hand in hand with Environmental Planners, Project Coordinators, and Senior Project Directors to lead multi-disciplinary teams of environmental professionals, such as internal specialists, specialty consultants and subcontractors, to achieve project objectives.
- You will oversee all aspects of project execution, monitoring quality and compliance with project delivery standards and client requirements, including SharePoint and file/documentation control.
- You will effectively manage project controls and regularly report on project status, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource needs.
- You will identify and manage project risks, ensuring potential impacts are considered and mitigated.
- You will utilize experience with environmental planning to develop strategies to support the delivery of small- and large-scale projects.
- You will generate and analyze reports to assess project performance and identify areas for improvement.
- You will ensure accurate and timely invoicing and reporting to internal and external stakeholders regarding Project financials.
- You will be accountable for health and safety (H&S) procedures for your projects and in the workplace, which includes working to meet the client's H&S requirements, review of H&S documentation, attendance at pre- and post-field meetings, participating in site visits, reporting and incident investigations.
- You will evaluate Request for Proposals and prepare responses, develop work scopes, budgets and schedules.
- You will review various deliverables completed by the coordinators or technical teams prior to client submission.
- You will manage relationships with internal and external clients and understanding their needs and monitoring that they are met, providing your guidance and expertise;
- You will provide feedback to team members and contribute to their performance assessments
- You will communicate effectively and foster a collaborative and inclusive environment with technical teams, management, regulators and clients.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- A bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Planning, Environmental Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree would be considered an asset.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience coordinating or managing environmental impact assessment and permitting projects.
- Experience using project management tools and software for managing project controls (e.g., Oracle software, MS Project, Prima Vera).
- Valid PMI certification and/or equivalent project management experience.
- Knowledge of Ontario's environmental regulations and permitting processes (e.g., local, provincial, and federal environmental regulatory requirement such as the Ontario Environmental Assessment Act, federal Impact Assessment Act, and various permit application requirements.
- Possession of a safety conscious attitude
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
