As part of the Process and Mine Infrastructure Team in Canada, you'll be responsible for driving forward our ambitious plans to enhance our service offering globally, through your work with a close-knit team of engineering specialists, professionals, and technical staff.

A day in the life:
- You'll be carrying out laboratory tests to known industry and WSP standards on primarily tailings material. Specifically material characterization, rheology, dewatering and unconfined compressive strength testing;
- You would have already mastered many of the tailings tests: material characterization, rheology, dewatering and unconfined compressive strength and can train junior staff on executing the test work;
- You'll be providing leadership in the laboratory, working with the laboratory supervisor to guide senior, intermediate and junior staff on day to day activities to meet the scope of the test programs outlined in different projects
- You'll be completing the review of the test results to ensure accurate and concise data gathering had taken place
- You'll be participating in the laboratory quality control program, supporting the laboratory supervisor with internal/external audits;
- You'll be interacting closely with project managers to clearly define the scope and objectives of the test program to ensure that it's execution supports the objectives.
- You'll also in some cases help develop test programs to meet client objectives.
- You'll contribute to reports and proposals
- You'll track laboratory costs, labor and materials
What you'll bring to WSP ...
- Successful completion of post-secondary technical education in Civil/Chemical/Metallurgical Engineering/Technology or related discipline;
- Minimum of 12 years of experience in tailings materials testing: rheology, dewatering and unconfined compressive strength;
- Sound knowledge with relevant standardized laboratory testing procedures (ASTM, AASHTO, CSA);
- Time management skills, organizational skills, independent thinking skills, problem-solving and analytical skills;
- A proven track record at providing direction to staff members and work closely with project teams
- Ability to discuss conflicting priorities from different projects teams and help resolve these conflicts
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and ability to schedule and coordinate multiple tasks and assignments;
- Accurate and efficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) with data entry, data interpretation and report generating skills;
- Although the position is office based. The desire to travel (nationally and internationally) to support field programs is considered positive.
- Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace/Possess a safety conscious attitude
- Safety oriented attitude; current First Aid and WHMIS training will be considered an asset
