As an Intermediate Bridge Engineer, you will work in technical or project management roles on the design and delivery of transportation projects, including highway, transit, rail and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, and unique structures. Duties include analysis, design, inspection, evaluation, cost estimating, tender document preparation, construction support, project management responsibilities, client communications, development of work plans and fee estimates.
This role can be based out of Kamloops, Kelowna, Nanaimo or Vancouver, but candidates based in other cities in BC are also encouraged to apply.

Expected Salary (all locations): $91,200 - 125,400

What you can expect to do here:
Responsibilities will include technical leadership or project management responsibilities for delivery of:
- Conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of bridges, culverts, retaining walls, and other civil structures;
- Bridge inspections, assessment and rehabilitation design;
- Quantities and construction cost estimates;
- Checking of designs and drawings;
- Specifications and contract document preparation;
- Review of shop drawings and field review of bridge construction;
- Preparation of reports and proposals;
- Development of work plans, schedules, fee estimates,
- Adherence to project budgets, schedules, quality processes, and
- Other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Graduate degree in civil engineering with structural specialty from an accredited university;
- 5+ years of experience in structural and seismic design of bridges, seismic assessment and retrofit design for existing bridges;
- Should possess P.Eng. designation or be eligible for professional licensing with EGBC;
- Working level knowledge of structural analysis software used in bridge design such as CSIBridge, MIDAS, etc;
- Areas of expertise required are in the planning, preliminary and detailed design, and construction of bridges, and culverts;
- A thorough knowledge of current bridge design codes (CAN/CSA-S6 in particular) and standards is essential;
- Experience with inspection, assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures;
- Experience with field review and inspection during construction;
- Experience in Seismic vulnerability and hazard assessment as well as seismic retrofit options for existing bridges;
- Interest in sophisticated analysis (nonlinear time-history, static pushover, soil-structural interaction) and performance-based seismic design of new and retrofitted structures;
- An interest in design automation and skills in the area of computer programming (such as Grasshopper, Python, VBA, etc.) would be an asset;
- An interest in Building Information Modeling (BIM) technologies using software such as Revit would be an asset;
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; and
- Team player with a willingness to mentor and collaborate with team members.
