Job Description
A career in the Insurance Claims Services practice within Deals will provide you with a unique blend of challenges and opportunities, where you will handle a variety of responsibilities, including client communications, document collection, research and investigations, and the preparation of data analysis and reports. Additionally, you will contribute to our training and business development efforts, showcasing your ability to drive growth and efficiency within our practice. We are looking for professionals who are pursuing or have completed their CPA designation, with a solid understanding of accounting concepts, and experience working with financial statements and tax returns. The ideal candidate will have an investigative mindset, a keen interest in applying regulatory rules and case law, and strong skills in communication, organization, and time management.
Meaningful work you'll be part of
As a n Associa t e, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. PwC Professional skills and responsibilities for this level will be focused on insurance claim quantification and include but are not limited to:
• Consult with claimants/policyholders, counsel and representatives of insurance companies
• Determine financial information required to assess the loss/claim
• Complete research and investigation related to the claim using the internet and various other internal resources
• Determine what type of financial analysis to prepare depending on the type of loss/claim
• Prepare detailed analysis of accounting records and other personal and corporate financial information, including the identification of unusual or unreasonable amounts and/or errors
• Prepare financial models forecasting the projected income, absent the loss/claim
• Present analysis and research using Microsoft Suite and various other internal software and
• Assist in the preparation and presentation of loss quantification reports and/or loss review (critique) to lawyers (both plaintiff and defense counsel) and/or insurance adjusters/claims managers
Experiences and skills you'll use to solve:
• Enrolled in or completed post-secondary education
• Qualified Canadian CPA or equivalent recognized designation, or commitment to completing the Canadian CPA with all required prerequisite courses completed prior to full-time start date
• Solid understanding of accounting concepts
• Strong research skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to articulate issues and ideas
• Highly detail oriented with excellent organizational and analytical skills; an ability to think broadly and to ask questions about data, facts and other information to deliver quality to our clients
• Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines on multiple engagements simultaneously
• An interest in upskilling for a digital world and technology trends, an openness to learning new tools and adapting how you work
• Share and collaborate effectively with others, building relationships which are genuine and rooted in trust
• Comfortable travelling to cities across Canada (when deemed safe to do so by applicable public health or regulatory authorities and PwC)
