We use descriptive and predictive analytical techniques to incorporate client, third-party, and proprietary data to help answer questions and design solutions to our clients most pressing business issues.PwC Canada is seeking an experienced Data Science Manager to spearhead the development and deployment of state-of-the-art AI, including generative AI, solutions for our clients. This role requires a unique blend of technical prowess in data science, generative AI, and cloud computing, coupled with exceptional project management and client-facing skills. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a proven track record of delivering high-impact AI solutions in a consulting environment, strong technical writing skills, and the ability to lead both technical and non-technical teams effectively.
Meaningful work you'll be part of
As a Data Science Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high quality client service and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Technical Responsibilities
• Architect and implement end-to-end generative AI solutions, from data ingestion to model deployment
• Design and optimize ML pipelines for efficiency and scalability
• Implement best practices in version control, CI/CD, and model monitoring for AI projects
• Evaluate and integrate cutting-edge AI technologies into our solution stack
• Develop custom AI models and fine-tune pre-trained models for specific client use cases
• Implement robust testing frameworks for AI systems, including unit tests, integration tests, and A/B tests

Data Strategy & Governance
• Design and implement comprehensive data strategies aligned with clients' digital transformation initiatives
• Architect data technology solutions, considering cloud/hybrid deployments and specific use cases
• Establish data governance frameworks, including organizational models and technology integration
• Implement advanced data management practices (master data, metadata, data quality, lifecycle management)
• Develop data transformation roadmaps and oversee complex data migration projects

Project Leadership
• Lead cross-functional teams in the delivery of complex AI and analytics projects
• Manage the full project lifecycle using Agile methodologies
• Conduct technical design reviews and code reviews to ensure solution quality
• Mentor junior data scientists and foster a culture of continuous learning and innovation

Client Engagement
• Translate complex technical concepts into business value propositions for C-level stakeholders
• Lead technical discovery workshops to identify AI opportunities within client organizations
• Author detailed technical proposals and RFP responses
• Provide expert guidance on AI ethics, responsible AI practices, and regulatory compliance

Business Development
• Contribute to the firm's thought leadership in AI and data science
• Identify upselling opportunities for AI services within existing client engagements
• Collaborate with sales teams to scope and price AI projects accurately

Experiences and skills you'll use to solve
• Significant experience in applied data science, with at least one year focused on generative AI
• Demonstrable experience with cloud-based AI services (AWS SageMaker, AWS Bedrock, Azure OpenAI, Azure ML, GCP Vertex AI)
• Hands-on experience with DevOps and MLOps; familiarity with LLMOps is a significant advantage
• Expertise in Python and proficiency with ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and Scikit-learn
• Advanced degree (MS/PhD) in Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or related quantitative field
• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Machine Learning Specialty, Azure AI Engineer) are beneficial

PwC BC Region Pay Range Information
The salary range* for this position is $103,000.00 - $171,800.00 CAD, plus individuals may be eligible for an annual bonus payment. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon your skills, experience, qualifications and geographic location.

*Please note that the salary range for this position is reflected for our British Columbia region. Given our national recruiting approach, we recruit (and may hire) in other regions and therefore the salary range may differ depending on the work location.
