Job Description:

Responsible for conducting appraisals of high value homes of varying complexity across the country each month. The purpose is primarily to establish accurate replacement cost estimates, help clients manage risks to their home and possessions, and document/photograph the features and finishes of the home. The role will also take on initiatives aimed at providing personal growth opportunities, while supporting overall department goals.

CUSTOMER
  • Conduct insurance appraisals of TD's high value and complex risks, often-times for VIP clients. Appraisal reports are to establish adequate coverage amounts, identify potential additional coverage needs, documentation and photographs of materials, finishes and unique characteristics, end to end risk mitigation and client consultation.
  • Managing of construction projects, both renovation and new construction, and adhere to agreed upon timelines and loss control measures
  • Contribute to the legendary customer experience by collaborating with internal and external partners while valuing speed and accuracy
  • Manage customer relationships, promoting the TD brand by acting as the face of the company during appraisals.
  • Analyze and resolve disputes related to customer complaints, replacement cost and risk engineering, etc.
  • Review quotes of complex risks to provide replacement cost and risk management guidance.
  • Quality control reviews of appraisal reports from internal staff as well as vendor companies.

SHAREHOLDER
  • Adhere to enterprise frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for our business area
  • Ensure respective programs/policies/practices are well managed, meets business needs, complies with internal and external requirements, and aligns with business priorities
  • Consistently exercise discretion in managing correspondence, information and all matters of confidentiality; escalate issues where appropriate
  • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g., segregation of duties and physical control of assets)
  • Participate in cross-functional / enterprise / initiatives as a subject matter expert helping to identify risk / provide guidance for complex situations
  • Conduct internal and external research projects; support the development/ delivery of presentations / communications to management or broader audience
  • Conduct meaningful analysis at the functional or enterprise level using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, assess the effectiveness of programs/ policies/ practices
  • Monitor service, productivity and assess efficiency levels within own function and implement continuous process / performance improvements where opportunities exist
  • Lead / facilitate and/or implement actions / remediation plans to address performance / risk /governance issues
  • Actively manage relationships within and across various business lines, corporate and/or control functions and ensure alignment with enterprise and/or regulatory requirements
  • Protect the interests of the organization - identify and manage risks, and escalate non-standard, high risk activities as necessary
  • Keep abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts
  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes in alignment with risk appetite

  • Expert level professional role requiring in-depth knowledge / expertise for high-net-worth clients with complex insurance portfolios.
  • Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area
  • Understands the industry, competition and the factors that differentiate the organization
  • Applies best practices to implement process, product or service improvements
  • Acts as a subject matter expert and resource to others; identifies and leads problem resolution for complex issues at all levels
  • Leads projects of moderately to complex risk and resource requirements; may lead end-to-end processes or functional programs
  • Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders
  • Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommend standards against which others will operate
  • Impacts a range of functional programs and operations across own and related teams
  • Interprets guidelines, standards, policies and results of analysis to inform decision making at senior levels
  • Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels
  • Works independently as the senior technical lead and guides others within area of expertise
  • Generally reports to a Manager or above

EXPERIENCE AND / OR EDUCATION
  • Undergraduate degree or relevant professional certifications, designations, or equivalent experience required 5+ years of experience in HNW market and/or related experience such as underwriting and/or claims, with a preference for appraisals/inspections.
  • Experience in valuation of high value homes and specialty/unique features not commonly seen in residential construction.
  • Architectural, construction, inspection, appraisal, high value real estate risk management or similar backgrounds needed
  • CRM/CIP considered an asset
