Who we're looking for:

We are looking for a System Designer for our OSS Team who is dedicated to key applications that enable our technology teams to interact with network devices.The Operations Support Systems (OSS) is the team dedicated to key applications that enable our technology teams to interact with network devices. We collaborate with teams across Rogers using different technologies to solution the best automated processes and systems that we need for our network and to succeed. As a System Designer, you will own the administration and maintenance of provisioning, mediation, and billing systems in a changing and dynamic environment.

Location : Brampton ON, Calgary AB

What you will do:
  • As a senior System Analyst, you will be responsible for supporting, configuring, maintaining and upgrading the provisioning, mediation, and billing systems.
  • When issues arise, you will be the first level of support to dig into the root cause by investigating logs and debugging code.
  • You will be empowered to drive changes to make your systems more reliable and maintainable while providing expert insight during solution design.
  • You will always think ahead and use your scripting capabilities to automate workflows and to simplify and streamline processes.
  • You will compare vendor systems to determine the best solution when implementing new systems and technologies, always keeping the customer in mind.

What you will bring:
  • You have strong written and communication skills and are a great team player
  • You respect everyone's ideas and strive for a common goal with your teammates
  • You are a creative problem solver who is ready to challenge the norm and provide outstanding customer experiences
  • You have demonstrated experience in a front-line role, ideally having worked in customer facing role with a track record of delivering a world class customer experience
  • Participate in a rotational on-call schedule, including activities during the maintenance window
  • Demonstrated industry experience in a system administration role on Red Hat Linux/Unix is a plus (can teach others)
  • Experience or knowledge of SOAP UI
  • Working knowledge of IP Technology
  • Good experience of bash/shell scripting
  • Demonstrated achievements of project delivery
  • A general understanding of telecommunication networks
  • Experience and knowledge of ITIL framework is an asset, but not required
  • Experience with Remedy, Service Now, Jira/Confluence, and related IT service management tools is an asset
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Ericsson platforms is an asset, but not required
  • Over-the-air platforms and E-SIM technologies such as G&D, Idemia and Thales is an asset, but not required
  • A willingness to learn cloud services, microservices, containerization, Kubernetes, Kafka, Apache Spark, and related technologies
  • A college or technical education, or Bachelor's degree in computer science or extensive experience in a related area
