WSP is currently seeking an ambitious, dynamic and innovative Structural Engineer to join our Structural Engineering Group, located at our Toronto office. Reporting to a Team Lead, Structural Engineering, this position will be responsible for working with a multi-disciplinary team to take innovative design solutions from proposal stage through to constructed projects for clients in a wide variety of Sectors. This role will include working in a collaborative contract model working closely with the client, contractor and design team.

Reporting to a Team Lead, Structural Engineering, this position will be responsible for working with a multi-disciplinary team to take innovative design solutions from proposal stage through to constructed projects for clients in a wide variety of Sectors. This role will primarily focus on acting as a Project Manager for the Structural discipline on multi-disciplinary projects while still having a hand in the design and delivery of projects. This role will include a client facing component and require knowledge of project management best practices.

What you'll do at WSP
  • Lead medium sized projects
  • Work with a Technical Lead to deliver large projects as a technical resource
  • Perform engineering calculations and assessments for steel, concrete, timber, and masonry structures, under the supervision of the Lead Engineer
  • Perform calculations using latest design software and advanced finite element modelling underpinned by a sound understanding of basic principles
  • Coordinate projects with clients, architects and other disciplines as necessary
  • Prepare detail drawings, sections and standard details, specifications, and ensure quality delivery
  • Write technical reports
  • Conduct field reviews, inspections, and condition assessments
  • Prepare proposals
  • Mentor junior staff and aid in developing the next generation of talent
  • Have fun developing innovative and elegant solutions for new and existing structures
  • Approach all projects with curiosity and innovation through a client centric lens
  • Occasional travel within Canada for project related work, site assessments and site support
  • Other duties as assigned/required

About you bring to WSP
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Structural Engineering
  • Registered Professional Engineer with PEO
  • 8-12 years' experience in Structural Engineering
  • Computational design skills, and particular strength in the following software - Etabs, SAP2000, RAM. Familiarity with Dynamo, Grasshopper etc, considered a bonus.
  • Design experience on a variety of project types including some of the following -transportation, industrial, commercial or residential.
  • Experience in transportation and/or industrial sectors is considered an asset
  • Pro-active, energetic, highly responsive and client centric
  • Dedicated team player with strong people skills, empathetic mindset and service excellence.
  • Excellent organizational and technical writing skills
  • Experience with Alliance or other collaborative contract models considered an asset
