The Prevention Practice, Quality, and Engineering department provides expert technical, legal, and practice advice to support Prevention Services. The team ensures decisions are legally sound, grounded in engineering principles, and aligned with quality standards.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and balance technical, policy, and strategic expertise to effectively support Prevention Services. They should demonstrate the ability to innovate and implement programs, focus on high-level strategy rather than operational tasks, and delegate effectively to maintain balance and avoid burnout.

- Develop and implement a comprehensive quality control, improvement, and assurance program for Prevention Services to enhance divisional products, services, and user experiences.
- Develop and oversee project plans, objectives, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful preparation, consultation, implementation, and program delivery.
- Foster teamwork and collaboration by involving the team in developing and executing project plans for key divisional initiatives, including Regulation and Policy implementation.
- Provide strategic advice and a quality-focused approach to resolving complex service delivery issues for the Prevention Senior Management team.
- Oversee financial resources, ensuring efficient allocation within budgetary constraints to meet operational needs.
- Support WorkSafeBC's corporate safety program by maintaining safe work practices and ensuring compliance with safety standards and policies.
- Represent WorkSafeBC and the Prevention Services Division to external stakeholders and interest groups, promoting organizational objectives and strategies.
- Brings strategic and innovative leadership with extensive knowledge of quality programs to effectively support Prevention Services.
- Demonstrates expertise in quality management within the occupational health and safety field.
- Excels in interpersonal and communication skills, fostering a strong culture of quality.
- Has proven proficiency in analytical thinking, issues management, and negotiations.
- Combines strategic vision with the ability to drive meaningful operational change.
- Is an innovative problem solver, enhancing workplace safety and effectiveness through creative solutions.
- Offers experience in financial management, budget planning, and resource allocation specific to quality management.
- Is flexible for occasional business travel and open to exceptional occupational health and safety projects.
- Post-secondary education in business administration, industrial engineering, or a related quality management field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams.
- Proven ability to address complex issues with broad stakeholder impact.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams and providing subject matter expertise.
- Significant industry experience in quality management, including leading large-scale operational changes.
- Familiarity with CSA Z1000, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
- Advanced degrees such as Master of Engineering (M.Eng.), Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Quality Management or Quality Engineering, or Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus on Operations or Quality Management
- Certifications including Lean Six Sigma, Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE).
- Knowledge of OHS practices, including inspections, consultations, education, accident investigations, and enforcement activities.
