Senior Advisor, Indigenous & Stakeholder Engagement, ISEIM

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Advisor to join our team within the Indigenous and Stakeholder Engagement and Information Management (ISEIM) team. This Senior Advisor will execute project deliverables and help to lead and oversee employees through project related tasks. The ideal candidate is highly efficient, productive and has strong time management skills. This individual typically has a minimum of 7-10 years' work experience, with a strong focus on the resource or energy infrastructure sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Indigenous and stakeholder engagement, regulatory permitting and exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of strategic planning and quality assurance.

A day in the life:
  • Team Leadership: Actively participates as part of an internal team, supports colleague's growth, and seeks to build collaborative relationships with all members of the employee team to facilitate orderly operation of the overall business.
  • Project Management: Oversee and manage multiple projects and people simultaneously with excellent task and time management skills.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and execute strategies that align with WSP's goals and objectives, ensuring sustainable growth and profitability.
  • Indigenous and Stakeholder Engagement: Consult with the public, private businesses, government agencies and Indigenous groups to support projects with appropriate consideration given to their opinions and viewpoints.
  • Communications: Write and edit communication materials and engagement strategies for projects in a variety of sectors including transportation, mining and energy resources. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to review and edit documents for accuracy, grammar and consistency in often tight timelines are essential for this role.
  • Event Management: Oversee and facilitate stakeholder meetings, public events, community liaison committees, community pop-up events and virtual meeting.
  • Process Improvement: Identify areas for process optimization, efficiency enhancement, and cost reduction, and implement best practices to streamline operations.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that the highest standards of quality and compliance are maintained in all aspects of our operations, including project delivery and client interactions.

What you'll bring to WSP
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, business management, or a related field.
  • 5 - 7 years' work experience, with a strong focus on the resource or energy infrastructure sector.
  • Demonstrated success in team management and leadership, with a focus on fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
  • A self-starter attitude with the confidence to embrace and execute new projects and opportunities with ease.
  • Strong written communication skills, including the ability to write and edit for different clientele.
  • A knowledge of Indigenous history, culture and governance.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
  • Acute event management capabilities from concept development to implementation on the ground.
  • Event planning experience and tactical knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully move into problem-solving mode when challenges or concerns arise.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Experienced building and maintaining client relationships.
