What you'll do

Position Title:SAP iXp Intern - Big Data Systems Developer

Location: Waterloo, ON

Expected start date to end date: May 05, 2025 - August 29, 2025
Work hours: 40 hours per week desired

• Prototype new features using a variety of languages and tools
• Learn about databases and big data
• Gain experience using cloud technologies like Python, Go, Kubernetes, and Docker
• Contribute to the early development of a new software product
• Be mentored by skilled developers who want to help you succeed
  

What you bring

Successful applicants will have an exceptional ability to learn and the motivation to excel in software design, implementation, and testing.

The following qualifications are required:

• Strong programming skills in Python
• Good oral and written communication skills
• Overall average of at least 85%
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively

The following are not required but would be valuable:

• Knowledge of SQL and relational database concepts
• Knowledge of Go or Scala
• Knowledge of Spark or Kubernetes
• Work experience at a software development company
• Software design experience
• Significant hobby programming

SAP is a world leader in Database and Data Analytics technologies and provides cloud-based services that are used by the world's largest enterprises. Our team is responsible for developing cloud-focused solutions to the unique challenges of data management in the evolving landscape of big data.

Join us in prototyping solutions to make it easier for our customers to find and understand their data in the cloud. You will figure out how various storage systems in big data fit together and make connections while maintaining data security and performance. You'll primarily be coding in Python but may also work with C++ and Scala, as well as a variety of cloud technologies including Kubernetes and Spark. Our product is still young; there is lots to do, and there will be many chances for you to shape the future with your talent and ideas.
