Job Description
A career in our Risk Modelling Services (RMS) team as a Property & Casualty Actuary, will provide you with the opportunity to contribute risk modeling and general insurance advice and consulting services to companies spanning multiple sectors including insurance companies, reinsurance companies and government agencies, as well as audit support for various insurance entities. You will work directly with our experienced actuaries and other actuarial associates on a wide range of projects including reserving, pricing, solvency and capital management, economic capital, financial condition testing, and the impact of new laws and regulations. You will also have the opportunity to provide oversight on insurance pricing services, risk modeling for emerging risks like climate and cyber, and help to develop tools and models that leverage machine learning and advanced finance analytics. As a Risk Modelling Services, Actuarial P&C Manager, you'll help solve complex business issues of a wide range, including f inancial, operational , and strategic. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Manage a broad range of actuarial consulting services and transformation initiatives
• Work closely with our Senior Actuaries on our appointed actuary services including actuarial liability valuation and financial condition testing, product development, mergers & acquisition, advisory services, and insurance accounting standards (IFRS 17)
• Support the accounting teams to identify and review financial risk issues related to the actuarial aspects of the audit
• Managing actuarial reviews and analyzing client information in order to conclude whether the actuarial liabilities are fairly presented in the financial statement
• Participate in our pricing , climate and cyber risk modelling strategy, and work with our risk teams from ESG, Sustainability and Cyber
• Seek and p articipate in business development activities such as development of service proposals and quotes, industry presentations, marketing material, as well fostering good communication with PwC clients to support relationship building Support engagement delivery
• Work collaboratively with actuaries and other actuarial students on a variety of projects, including cross-functional projects with other departments within PwC
• Present findings and recommendations to non-actuarial teams a clear and non-technical manner
• Coach actuaries in their technical and professional career development
Experiences and skills you'll use to solve
• Significant experience as a P&C actuary
• Fellow or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society and Canadian Institute of Actuaries
• Experience with personal lines and/or commercial lines pricing
• Knowledge on the use of various pricing software , considered an asset
• Hands on policy liability valuation, financial condition testing, IFRS 17, or predictive modeling experience
• Exceptional commitment to providing excellent client service, by building and maintaining productive relationships with both internal and external clients
• Advanced analytical, problem solving and multitasking/project management skills
• Proficiency in reserving or statistical applications such as Arius, R, and @Risk
• Proven ability working with data analytic tools (Tableau, Alteryx, VBA) considered an asset
• Continuous improvement mind-set, challenges the status quo and seeks self improvement
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including experience presenting in a business context
• Prior experience within a consulting or advisory role (or capable to work in a consulting/audit environments and project-based work) considered an asset
• Experience with climate risk modeling , considered an asset
