The Opportunity:
The Project Control Scheduler/Planner supports the execution of project activities, including cost and schedule management, project management, and monthly reporting. As a member of the Environmental & Infrastructure group, you will be given opportunities to apply your education and experience on complex projects. You will be challenged to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a very high quality deliverables. You will gain knowledge through mentorship and skills development, fast-track your professional development to become a strong project control analyst with the potential for a PMP designation.
This opportunity is to join the WSP team responsible for the execution and construction of the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI). The PHAI represents the federal government's response to the community-requested solution for the cleanup and local, long-term, safe management of historic low-level radioactive waste in the municipalities of Port Hope and Clarington.
Please note we will consider candidates based in various locations throughout Canada, but this opportunity is based at the project site in Port Hope, Ontario

What you can expect to do here:
- You will report to the Project Controls Lead/Manager and Project Director.
- You will work in collaboration with the project team, construction team, management, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- You will work daily with Primavera P6 scheduling program to prepare engineering and procurement schedules for medium to major projects. Analyze regularly and prepare reports for the purpose of dispute resolution.
- You will plan sequence of operations, develop the baselines to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet completion deadlines, perform labour forecasting and levelling, identify the critical path, revise schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
- You will identify problems or conflicts in the project schedule for the purpose of mitigating the impact of these risks.
- You will coordinate and update schedules with actual progress and forecast remaining durations, project milestones, and completion dates.
- You will develop and implement earned value systems that accurately measure project progress and performance.
- You will collaboratively conduct reviews with all internal and external stakeholders, to ensure plans are realistic and achievable. Incorporate inputs into Master Schedule.
- You will prepare schedule risk analysis to forecast contingencies for regular reporting to project teams & management.
- You will translate change orders (proposed and agreed) into a sequential work schedule, and perform what-if analyses to analyze various scenarios and recommend workable solutions.
- You will carry out delay analysis for claims, review and recommend on extension of time claims or requests.
- You will prepare and issue schedule analysis narratives and reports including recommendations for corrective actions that are used by project teams to manage work.
- You will ensure scheduling quality compliance on Schedules, meeting PMI and Company Standards.
- You will analyze specifications and performs mathematical calculations to determine production processes, tools, and human resource requirements.
- You will prepare regular status reports for senior management and project managers.
- You will prepare lists of required labor resources, materials, tools, and equipment. Assist in preparing progress reporting for the PM and client
- You will handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- University Degree/Diploma in Engineering, Construction Management or Business Administration, Finance or a combination of education and industry experience.
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience;
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in a Planning / Scheduling role supporting major projects using Primavera P6
- Adaptability and flexibility including ability to manage deadline pressure, ambiguity and change;
- Ability to multi-task, work on several projects or tasks at once, manage time, organize, and set priorities;
- Strong organizational skills;
- Strong interpersonal skills as the role requires continuous interaction with team members;
- Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, including report writing, editing and proofreading abilities;
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite and Outlook. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and/or MS Project skills is an asset;
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills;
- Eligible for CNL Reliability Status (individual must have 3 full years of verifiable history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia to be eligible).
