We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Law Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in corporate law, with a passion for supporting organizations that make a difference in our communities. This role will involve assisting our team in providing comprehensive legal support to our clients, ensuring they remain compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

What you will do
  • Assist in the preparation and review of legal documents, including but not limited to corporate documents, not-for-profit and charities law
  • Support the legal team in advising clients on compliance issues, including fundraising regulations, tax-exempt status, and reporting requirements
  • Assist in annual corporate fillings
  • Conduct legal research on not-for-profit and charities law
  • Draft correspondence and legal memoranda related to client inquiries and legal matters
  • Maintain organized files and documentation for client matters and legal research
  • Assist in the preparation of materials for client meetings, presentations, and training sessions
  • Stay updated on changes in legislation and case law affecting the not-for-profit sector
What you bring to the role
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a corporate law clerk, charities and not-for-profit law experience is an asset
  • ILCO certification is preferred
  • Experience with MinuteBox and Netdocs considered an asset
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft 365
