The Opportunity:
Thisrole requires an individual who is very strong technically in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, has a thorough understanding of both building electrical systems and mechanical systems, knows how to design in complex retrofit environments as well as new construction, and can lead and mentor their team to deliver top engineering designs and high-quality contract documents. This individual needs to have strong management skills, the ability to lead a team and maintain internal/external client relationships.

What you can expect to do here:
Lead and manage a design production team composed of mechanical and electrical engineers, designers, technicians, and Engineers-in-Training (EITs), providing guidance and support
Act as a mentor to the team, helping individuals develop their skills and advance in their careers
Act as the either Lead Engineer or Project Manager on complex projects
Oversee the development of mechanical and electrical building system design
Oversee project timelines, budgets, and deliverables on all projects undertaken by the team
Develop detailed workload planning documents to ensure appropriate resource allocation and adherence to project timelines
Ensure engineering work meets quality standards and that client expectations are met
Review and approve technical designs, drawings, and specifications
Monitor project progress, identify potential issues, and implement solutions to keep projects on track
Works closely with the M&E Area Director, the Operations Director, finance, quality, legal/risk, and project delivery shared services teams to report and successfully deliver projects
Foster, implement and promote best practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and a culture of innovation and collaboration within team
Maintain and manage strong relationships with building owners, architects and contractors, and other clients
What you'll bring to WSP:
A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years' experience in engineering consulting industry focused on the design of mechanical and/or electrical systems for buildings
A valid PEO license
Strong knowledge of mechanical and/or electrical engineering principles, codes, and standards.
Demonstrated experience in successfully managing projects, including delivering on time and budget
Proven ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers and designers.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and internal/external clients
Highly experienced in working in existing buildings, occupied conditions, and facilities with critical operations
Experienced with managing complex retrofit and new construction projects
Familiar with the key principals of decarbonization
Ability to manage multiple projects and appropriately resource to align with project timelines.
An ability to work collaboratively, share and balance resources and be a team player
Desire to participate in client management and business development activities
Knowledgeable in modelling and drafting software such Revit and AutoCAD
Knowledgeable in design software associated with mechanical or electrical systems design
** Must be eligible for PSPC Reliability clearance
