Supports the execution of accurate and efficient cyclical reporting processes for regulatory and management information disclosure in the quarterly and annual Management's Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and Quarterly Earnings Releases to external stakeholders and regulatory bodies. Supports an efficient and effective MD&A function by contributing to the overall positioning of the Bank's quarterly financial results in external communications, to contribute to increasing shareholder value and to enhance the Bank's reputation by communicating financial performance and strategies effectively.
  • Fosters a culture aligned to BMO purpose, values and strategy and role models BMO values and behaviours in all that they do.
  • Supports interdependent teams that collaborate across functional and operating groups to create the highest value for all stakeholders.
  • Acts as a trusted advisor to business partners in external financial reporting production and manages relationships with end-users and other stakeholders to support change management and program/process changes related to the financial reporting process.
  • Monitors legal and other regulatory developments influencing disclosure requirements to identify external issues that may affect the Bank's approach to disclosure and to ensure that the Bank's disclosures are in compliance.
  • Monitors peer group disclosure practices and identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making to ensure the Bank maintains and/or increases its competitive advantage.
  • Reviews MD&A commentary prepared by contributors for reasonableness, flag areas of concern and resolve any issues in a timely manner.
  • Assists the Lead - MD&A to resolve MD&A review comments received from the CFO, executives, internal and external legal counsel, and the external auditor.
  • Populates the MD&A and Earnings Release with financial data, and analyses data and information to provide financial insights and recommendations related to messaging.
  • Provides attestation to the validity of financial results through auditing to source systems, the supplementary package and financial statements, and validates identified discrepancies to ensure consistency
  • Prepares the audit binder for internal review and addresses any concerns from the fact checkers.
  • Trains and oversees the audit work of 1-2 individuals, keeping the Lead - MD&A updated on the progress of the audit.
  • Provides information and support the process for internal (Corporate and SOX) and external audits.
  • Reviews the reporting processes for effectiveness and implements approved enhancements to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis and/or streamlined reporting.
  • Participates in initiatives as a subject matter expert for the development and enhancement of financial reporting systems or business processes.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

  • Qualifications:
  • Between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience
  • Post-secondary degree in related field of study
  • Completed accounting designation e.g., CA, CGA, CMA.
  • Deep knowledge and technical proficiency gained through extensive education and business experience.
  • Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills - In-depth.
  • Analytical, integrative and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Collaboration and team skills, with the ability to independently respond to moderately complex queries from internal stakeholders and establish conducive working relationships with co-workers across different business groups.
  • Data-driven decision making by exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under very tight timelines, while maintaining the integrity of the information and delivering timely, accurate, and efficient service for quarterly and annual processes for reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative, energetic, work independently and establish priorities.
Salary :

$74,800.00 - $138,600.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.
