A career in our Indirect Tax practice, within Tax services, will provide you with the opportunity to help our clients meet and manage their tax obligations across unique but ever changing tax specialties. You'll advise clients on their local and overseas tax affairs, while acting as a strategic consultant related to business analysis, managing indirect taxes, dispute resolution, and global enterprise tax solutions.Our team helps our clients optimize cash-flow and reduce risk by managing challenges and identify opportunities related to indirect taxes. You'll support our clients with all aspects of indirect taxation related to global, regional and domestic projects as well as comprehensive restructuring and compliance projects.
Meaningful work you'll be part of
As an Indirect Tax Senior Manager, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Take a leading role in advising and assisting clients on wide range of indirect tax matters, including complex GST/HST, provincial sales tax, excise tax technical issues
• Perform technical reviews of indirect tax deliverables to clients and tax authorities, such as client emails, advice, opinion letters, audit submissions and notice of objections
• Coordinate assistance provided to clients with tax authority audits and appeals, tax registrations and elections
• Oversee indirect tax due diligence assignments, compliance reviews and health checks
• Lead conference calls and meetings with clients on indirect tax matters
• Build relationships and source meaningful work from existing and new clients and partners and staff in the tax team and other service lines within PwC Canada and foreign PwC firms
• Develop professionally and provide mentorship to junior indirect tax staff
• Encourage everyone to have a voice and invite opinion from all, including quieter members of the team
• Deal effectively with ambiguous and unstructured problems and situations
• Initiate open and candid coaching conversations at all levels
• Move easily between big picture thinking and managing relevant detail
• Anticipate stakeholder needs, and develop and discuss potential solutions, even before the stakeholder realizes they are required
• Contribute technical knowledge in the area of specialism and publish thought leadership in indirect taxes
• Contribute to an environment where people and technology thrive together to accomplish more than they could apart
• Navigate the complexities of cross-border and/or diverse teams and engagements
• Initiate and lead open conversations with teams, clients and stakeholders to build trust
• Uphold the firm's code of ethics and business conduct

Experience and skills you'll use to solve
• Demonstrated deep knowledge of Canadian sales taxes
• Strong business development skills and client focus and experience in GST/HST and other sales tax legislation
• Ability to train, coach, and mentor team members
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the ability to read and interpret legislation
• Ability to handle multiple assignments, work effectively under pressure and work well in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail, ability to think creatively, and solve complex problems with innovative solutions

PwC BC Region Pay Range Information

The salary range* for this position is $ 115,500 - $ 192,400 , plus individuals may be eligible for an annual bonus payment. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon your skills, experience, qualifications and geographic location.

*Please note that the salary range for this position is reflected for our British Columbia region. Given our national recruiting approach, we recruit (and may hire) in other regions and therefore the salary range may differ depending on the work location. PwC is committed to competitive compensation and sharing salary ranges in accordance with applicable pay transparency legislation as they arise.
