The Opportunity:
Are you a seasoned construction professional with a passion for leadership and innovation? Look no further! We're seeking a dynamic Commercial Director to join our high-performing Remediation team in Ontario.
The role involves leading all commercial aspects of the business unit, including managing teams for Supply Chain, Commercial, Project Accounting, and Project Controls programs. While not directly responsible for project execution, the role focuses on ensuring the commercial processes, staffing, and support are in place to enable successful project execution. Additionally, the role includes supporting project directors in commercial activities and contract administration, leading risk management, and maintaining positive relationships with clients and project teams.

What you can expect to do here:
- You will have overall leadership of commercial aspects of the business unit. You will have direct reports including Commercial Managers, Project Accounting Managers, Project Controls Managers, and potential Supply Chain Managers.
- You will manage commercial process, staffing, support, and organization to enable project/program execution to be successful.
- You will lead Supply Chain programs, policies, process, and team.
- You will lead Commercial programs, policies, process, and team. You will lead Project Accounting programs, policies, process, and team.
- You will lead Project Controls programs, policies, process, and team. You will support project/operations Directors in commercial activity.
- You will support project/operations Directors in contract administration - both client-facing and subcontractor/supplier-facing.
- You will be accountable for understanding, management, and interpretation of various contracts.
- You will lead risk management.
- You will support the negotiation and execution of new opportunities and contracts.
- You will support the approval process for new opportunities and contracts.
- You will lead financial, project, and operations reporting.
- You will coordinate with wider company groups (legal, supply chain, commercial, executive groups). You will create and maintain positive client relationships.
- You will create and maintain positive relationships with project teams.
What you'll bring to WSP:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related discipline
- More than 10 years' experience in EPC/EPCM project execution, with 5+ years of experience in commercial aspects of project execution.
- Excellent leadership skills
- Strong ability to communicate internally, influence internal policy, report to executive level.
- Strong knowledge of contracts, project security mechanisms, dispute resolution, legal aspects of contracting, etc.
- Knowledge of project controls, including critical path method scheduling and budgetary control systems.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of project management.
- Ability to manage, coach, and lead mid-sized teams.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
- Eligible for CNL Reliability Status security clearance ( individual must have 3 full years of verifiable current history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia ). dividual must have 3 full years of verifiable current history in Canada, USA, UK, New Zealand and/or Australia ).
