Job Description:
Department Overview
TD Innovation Partners (TDIP) is a new full-service banking unit providing bespoke, high-touch banking and financial services to address the unique challenges, opportunities and needs of companies in the innovation economy from ideation to IPO and beyond. This includes banking and lending products, principal investments and private banking solutions.
The team collaborates with the most innovative digital, technolodgy oriented and disruptive companies across Canada from the earliest stages to those that are later stage and publicly traded. This includes clean-tech, consumer internet, digital production studios, technolodgy infrastructure, consumer internet, biotech, and fintechs that are either venture or sponsored backed. The team at TDIP leverages their industry knowledge, networks, and extensive deal structuring experience to offer a full suite of customized credit and cash management solutions to meet the complex needs of our clients.
Job Description
In the role of Director, Credit Execution ("DCE"), you are principally responsible for managing the credit and operational risk for an TDIP's loan portfolio. You are a subject matter expert and have the ability to analyze and understand complex credit proposals, including multi-lender situations. You can anticipate and assess the risks associated with entering into a lending relationship under a wide range of economic scenarios and ensure solicitor-prepared loan agreements are relevant, supportive and competitive for the bank and our clients on an ongoing basis. You will assess, analyze and perform due diligence in support of all applications, approving credits within delegated limits and making recommendations on all others. You will interface with TD's risk management group on a regular basis to ensure that your understanding of the Bank's risk models and pricing platforms allows you to effectively interpret and apply policy. Recognizing that your credibility and influence with them is based on the credit proposals that are well-crafted and presented by your team, you make the development of your Associates' and Associate Directors' risk evaluation skills your primary priority. Thus, you will establish yourself as a trusted business leader who is sought after for guidance regarding matters relating to the credit facilities that are supporting the clients' business strategy. You support your Unit's efforts to meet their business development targets by recommending credit packaging alternatives and actively discuss credit solutions with internal TD partners, external professional advisors, and other lenders as appropriate. You feel comfortable in a team based business environment where you are expected to balance risk management objectives with our ongoing business building targets.
