Job Summary

The Team
The BC Arts Council Secretariat Branch is a dedicated, collaborative team responsible for stewarding the funds provided to the BC Arts Council (BCAC) through robust engagement, policy development, program administration and governance support. The BCAC is the Province's primary agency supporting British Columbia's arts and culture sector, operating under the Arts Council Act. Their mandate is to administer funds allocated by the Legislature, providing grants and resources to communities, organizations, and individuals across the province. The BCAC and the Secretariat are guided by a strong strategic vision focused on reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion and access.

The Role
As the Secretariat Coordinator for the BC Arts Council, you will play a key role in ensuring clear and timely communication of programs, policies, and initiatives through web coordination and public-facing communications. You will also organize and support Council meetings, track priorities, and manage stakeholder engagement, including liaising with Ministry Executive Offices and Council members. This role offers a unique opportunity to support the growth of arts and culture throughout British Columbia while working with a collaborative and diverse team. The position provides a chance to engage with a broad spectrum of cultural issues, with opportunities for growth and development.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience
  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent (GED).
  • Minimum six (6) months' experience in each of the following:
    • Experience working in a web development environment or with content management systems (i.e. Wordpress).
    • Experience in standard computer applications - word processing, spreadsheets, power points and email, etc. (i.e. MS Word, Outlook Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
    • Experience preparing and editing a variety of correspondence, briefing and/or meeting materials.
    • Experience in providing administrative/program support to senior management level staff, including coordinating meetings, events, managing calendars and determining priorities.
    • Experience with financial activities (budget, contract administration, accounts payable, purchasing).
  • Anequivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.


Preference may be given to candidates with one or more of the following:
  • One (1) or more years experience in the above-listed criteria.
  • Experience working with ARCS, ORCS, EDRMS, CLIFF and eApprovals.
  • A diploma or certificate in office administration or equivalent.

About this Position:
This is a temporary assignment until April 30, 2025 that may be extended or become permanent.
Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
An eligibility list may be established to fill future temporary and permanent vacancies.
A Criminal Record Check (CRC) will be required.
Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
